[Melissa, Roxy, Adela, Clara are walking towards the house. Melissa is carrying her suitcase and Adela is carrying Melissa’s rucksack. Melissa and Adela are walking in front of Roxy and Clara]

Melissa: I’ve never stayed over at someone’s house 4 a week before

Adela: just think of it as an extra long sleepover. Its gonna be fun

Roxy: (points to Clara) Not if your stuck living with her for a week

Clara: Hey [shows her fangs, Melissa doesn’t notice.]

Roxy: joke, joke *Clara walks towards Roxy * Fine then go ahead and fight me. Remember, I’m 13 and you’re…

Clara: You can’t even remember my age?

Roxy: 12

Clara: Well done

Adela: (whispers) Clara, put your fangs away

Clara: sorry I forgot, she didn’t see it did she

Roxy: (laughs at Clara)

Clara: (evil stare)

Adela: no but you don’t want…

Melissa: what’s up?

Adela, Roxy, and Clara: Nothing (big smile)

[As the 4 walk up the short courtyard at the end of the road, they see Enyo standing in front of the door.]

Enyo: (To herself) oh looks here, another one to look after.

Melissa: Hi! Are you Enyo?

Enyo: Yes, it’s nice to meet you. Please come in

[All walk into the house except Enyo]

(To herself) This is going to be Interesting.
(Lighter) the guest bedrooms are downstairs. There are 3; you’re welcome to choose which one you want. The left one has a bath and the other two have showers.

Melissa: Well the left one is fine with me.

Enyo: okay then. You can unpack now if you want. I’m going to make lunch.

Melissa: are you good at cooking?

Enyo: not really but when mums away I have to look after the place

Melissa: oh. Are you making food for everyone?

Enyo: that was the plan

Melissa: Well I thought you might want to know that I’m a vegetarian, so I can’t eat any meat.

Enyo: Yes, we are too. I’m making vegan lasagne is that ok?

Melissa: (relieved) of course.

Enyo: [walks to the kitchen] (muttering to herself in Romanian) I gave up blood when dad passed anyway.



[Later: Enyo is in the kitchen. Melissa walks into the hall. She sees the pool table next to the stairs. This isn’t Melissa’s first time in the house so she decides to go to Adela’s bedroom and ask her if she wants to play. When she gets upstairs she sees Clara & Roxy arguing]

Clara: I want it.

Roxy: It’s mums room not yours

Melissa: Is there a problem here?

Clara: It’s noting

Roxy: what are you doing up here.

Melissa: I wanted to see if anyone wanted to play some pool.

Clara: sure

O.C Enyo: (calling from kitchen) Donnays here

Roxy: maybe Donny wants to play

[Clara, Roxy and Melissa walk down stairs to meet Donny]

Donny: hi, who are you?

Melissa: Melissa, nice to meet you.

Donny: Nice to meet you too. I’m Clara & Roxy’s next door neighbour. I’ll also be starting at the same school as them next half term.

Melissa: Then you will be going to the same school as me then. Do you want to play some pool?

Donny: Sure

[Later: Clara, Roxy & Adela are helping Enyo with the Lunch. Melissa & Donny are talking in the lounge. They sit on the sofa]

Not relay, still it’s just a bit of

Melissa: I guess your right.

Donny: (pause) you know you’re very beautiful.

Melissa: thanks. (Small smile)

Donny: You’re neck looks beautiful too.

Melissa: (uncomfortable) Ur… that’s nice. [Melissa looks away nervously. She looks down at the bookshelf next to the sofa.]

Donny: [tries to bite her. Adela & Enyo walk in]

Adela: (shouting, surprised) Donny, What are you doing?

Donny: [retracts his fangs] What?

Enyo: Melissa, we need help in the kitchen

Melissa: Sure, I’ll help

Adela: Donny, come with me, I wanna have a little chat with you.

[Melissa walks into the kitchen with Enyo while Adela drags Donny into the living room]

Adela: What in Gods name did you think you were doing!

Donny: It was just a bite.

Adela: Well you can't just go around biting a girl you just met.

Donny: Hey, I can bite anyone I want!

Adela: You can't bite someone without his or her permission. Stop acting like a bloody player!

Donny: hey, what makes you think she didn't want it

Adela: (shouting) Cause she's a bloody human! (Not shouting) Not just any human, a human that doesn’t know our secret. A human that doesn’t think vampires exists!

Enyo: [walks in] and you almost turned her into a vampire!

Donny: How was I to know?

Adela: maybe you should realise that the majority of people in the world are not Vampires! Neither do they want to become vampires!

Donny: What so wrong with her being a vampire anyway.

Adela: She has a right not to want to be a vampire, you know. She might now want to wear sun cream wherever she goes. She might like eating garlic & being normal.

Enyo: (slowly) besides, it might benefits us, having a human around. She can help us with things…

Clara: [walks in] Lunch is ready. There is only enough for 5 people…

Enyo: That’s ok. Donny was just leaving

Donny: I get the hint, I’m going.

[Later- Lunch is just finishing. Roxy, Adela, Melissa, Clara & Enyo are sitting at the table]

Enyo: He’s an idiot & a Freak

Clara: Yes, he was acting a little strange today.

Roxy: Today, he’s like that all the time!

Melissa: Well in the lounge he said something really strange.

Roxy: What did he say

Melissa: He said I have nice neck. That’s odd. What is he? A vampire?

[The four-vampires exchange looks]

Enyo: (giggles) Sounds like that to me. Why don’t you drive a steak though his heart?

Melissa: What if he isn’t a vampire

Roxy: Either way, you get him out of our hair.

[Later- everyone is sitting on the sofa in the lounge. Enyo is reading a book and everyone else is talking]

(Start talking about school. Continue talking till Clara begins her Dialogue)

Clara: Melissa, Do you believe in Vampires?

[Everyone becomes silent]

Melissa: No.

Clara: Why?

Melissa: Well it’s a long story. First if there were Vampires around, there would be a lot more people with bites in their neck.

Clara: What if they’re all vegetarians?

Melissa:  Like (giggle) Count Duckula?

Adela: I think that’s enough talk about vampires.

Melissa: Are you afraid of them?

Enyo: She doesn’t exactly like to admit it

Melissa: Well you don’t need to be. They’re made up. Just look up wikipedia

Enyo: Mel, come here for a second [Mel sits down next to Enyo.]

[Roxy, Adela, Clara starts to talk about Wikipedia]

(Whispers) I have a secret to tell you. Promise me you won’t tell anyone

Melissa: Sure

[Enyo whispers something quietly into Melissa’s ear.]

Enyo: Ok?

Melissa: Yep

[Phone rings, everyone stops talking]

Clara: I’ll get it [grabs the cordless phone on the table] (to the phone) Hi mum. (To Roxy) It’s mum! (To the phone) Hi mummy, how you doing? [Pause]  He what, wow that’s great. (Gasp) That means that Mel will be our stepsister.

Melissa: (shocked) what?

Clara: (to Melissa) your dad just proposed.

Melissa: That’s great!

Adela: (excited) You’re gonna be our sister.

Clara: (to phone) Yes, I’ll tell them, bye.

Enyo: Wait, I want to talk

Clara: She’s hung up

Enyo: Figures

Roxy: So you gonna be our sister. I don’t wana be her sister.

Melissa: Hey!

Adela: I think there is something we need to do.

Enyo: What

Adela: Hug!

Melissa: Hug?
[Melissa suddenly gets a huge hug from her new stepsisters]

Clara & Adela: Glomp!

Melissa: As much as I like getting a super hug from all of my friends at once, I would like it if you let go, cause your kinda, squashing me.

Roxy: Sorry

[Later- Adela is in her Bedroom alone. She is reaching under her bed]

Adela: (to herself) Where is it. I knew it was here somewhere. Hey what’s this? [Pulls out a small telescope from under her bed (Smiles) [She assembles it and points it in the direction of her window.]

Donny: [enters] Hey what you looking at?

Adela: My old telescope! It’s the one dad gave me.

Donny: Dose it still work?

Adela: Why don’t you have a see for yourself.

Donny: Wow, this is great. I can see all the way to Mark & Shelly’s house. I can even see into Shelly’s bedroom.

Adela: Give that back, you can’t use my telescope to spy on girls!

Donny: spoilsport

Adela: That’s it, out! Get out!

Donny: Don’t kick me out

Adela: If you don’t get out, I’ll get Enyo to come here and kick you out.

Donny: Not fair [leaves]

Adela: Hmmm. Now [looks into the telescope] I wonder if I can see into Mark’s bedroom?

[Later- Enyo, Clara, Adela, Melissa & Roxy are talking]

Enyo: We thought it might be hard to keep this from you anyway seeing as you’re our future sister in law and Adela’s Best friend.

Melissa: (happy) I’m you Best friend?

Roxy: I don’t think that’s very important now.

Enyo: Have you told anyone that secret I told you?

Melissa: Of course not. Why what’s wrong?

Clara: How would you like to keep another secret?

Roxy: Except this is a much bigger.

Adela: Much, much bigger.

Melissa: What is it?

Clara: Well the thing is this secret may be a little…

Adela: Just get to the point.

Enyo: Were vampires, (to Adela) there are you happy now?

Melissa: oh you’re vampires. Secret safe with me. Don’t worry, I won’t tell anybody

Adela: Is it me or is that a whole lot easier than we imagined.

Enyo: She thinks were joking

Clara: Mel, we are serious. Were not trying to fool you honest.

Melissa: (sarcastic) Sure
Roxy: Were honest here!

Adela: Mel, please believe us.

Melissa: Are you serious?

Enyo: we have proof. [Shows her fangs]

Melissa: Oh my God how did do that?

Adela: We did tell you about a hundred times…

Melissa: Either your Serious or you’re the greatest actors I’ve ever seen.

Roxy: Now do you believe us?

Melissa: But you’re standing here, in broad daylight and some of you have Tans and your Christians and have crosses all around the house…

Adela: It’s all myth. Made up by the media. Well everything except Garlic

Clara: Yuck!

Melissa: W, What about, the, um, you know. The Fangs. I’m you’re vampires then that means you…

Enyo: Didn’t I tell you we were Vegetarian?

Melissa: So when’s the bit where you jump out and shout, “fooled you”

Clara: I can see it must be hard to believe for someone who didn’t think Vampires exists.

Melissa: Oh I knew they exist.

Adela: You did?

Melissa: The only thing is that I was hoping you weren’t Vampires. Then again there would be much point if you weren’t.

Roxy: What do you mean?

Melissa: The reason I didn’t want you to be a vampire is that [pause] (strong) I’m a slayer.
